Raid Start 2CVehu Meeting 6.-8.7.2007

The official raid start date is 8th July at Vehu, but you are invited to a rendez-vous meeting "2CVehu" starting 6th July and hope most of you could arrive already on Friday evening. 2CVehu is open to all 2CV friends and probably there will be a number of Finnish 2cv drivers to greet you. Motto of 2CVehu: "Finnish wood and its use in every day life".

Remember that there are no shops nor petrol stations in Vehu. Wood heated saunas and "huusi" (loo/outhouse) available. Beds available indoors in the schoolhouse at additional cost. Common meals and breakfast will be served at reasonable cost so you do not need to bring a lot of your own stuff. Beer and cider from a brewery in the region will be available, too.

Saturday: We will make a piquenique to the surroundings. We will pay a visit to a local hot bath tub maker in the neighborhood . In addition, we will enjoy a lunch (about 10 e/person) at a local tourist attraction with old wooden houses and naivistic paintings . The painter and owner of the place will demonstrate how to make shingles, roofing material that has been used in Finland commonly. In the evening we will gather for the first "Ajajakokous" (Drivers' Meeting).

Ecological mosquito repellents are for sale in Vehu. We will have a local person demonstrating how to make mosquito repellants from tar and pine oil - worth seeing. Body massage (10 e/30 min) available. Make your reservation by sending an email to veikko@neuro.hut.fi.

LOCATION: "Vehun vanha kansakoulu" (Vehu village old schoolhouse), Rämäläntie 2030, Soini. You will find it in between Jyväskylä and Seinäjoki in central part of Finland, about 350 km from Helsinki. First find you road to Tampere and drive further north upto Orivesi and take the road number 58 to Keuruu. Drive 128 km along road number 58 and turn to left road number 7140 to Soini.
